SL is an Additive Manufacturing Process

SL has the ability to produce fine detailed three-dimensional prototypes and conceptual models from 3D CAD data. SL Models are Ideal for Concept Models, form and fit studies, and as master patterns for an array of molding techniques, such as injection molding, cavity inserts, thermoforming, and blow molding.

Incodema3D offers a broad variety of resins along with our high-resolution Viper machine, which offers SL parts at .002" layer thickness.

SL Process

The SL process begins with a 3D CAD file of the part. The data is then “sliced” horizontally into cross sections between .002” and .006” thick and formatted into SL build data. The system uses the data to build the part layer by layer with an ultraviolet laser. The laser traces on a platform which is submerged one layer thickness at a time in a photosensitive polymer. Each layer is built and adhered to the previous layer until the whole model is built.
